NOVA PALM FOUNDATION'S

WORK

PISTA Community Service Program for the Elderly

In many societies, the elderly are being subjected to undignified treatment, and, in some cases, rudeness and abuse in their family or hospital wards. A study conducted by the University of Sheffield uncovered a series of failures ranging from poor access to eating, washing and dressing facilities to, in extreme cases, rude and abusive behavior from staff. PISTA care for the elderly aims to enhance their quality of life and to instill human dignity and respect . PISTA promotes the learning of our need to relearn the conditions of accepting debility and dependency, our duty to care lovingly for the elderly. We seek to promote change in the lives of many communities across the world and to restore the dignity of the elderly through compassionate care.

We provide direct service such as home support, telephone befriending and financial aid. We also support other NGOs by providing staff training on elderly abuse prevention. Our practitioners come from the health and social care services. We address abuse within people's own home whether by family members, friends or paid staff. We also work to prevent the abuse of older people by raising awareness, encouraging education, promoting research, and collecting and disseminating information.

Our elderly program includes 24-hour support groups to both peers and careers. We employ outreach workers and volunteers from relevant cultural background to provide quality care to the elderly.

PISTA Non-Directive Psychotherapy

PISTA modality provide the technique to clients to explore their feelings by establishing the relationship with self.

It seeks to relieve symptoms through the development of insight.

PISTA therapy does not place the importance on the therapeutic dyad, which is a medical term for the relationship between the therapist and the patient. the positive change in a patient's outlook and behaviors are able to unfold through PISTA 'self developed insight building' technique.

PISTA Learning Program for Youths

Nova Palm Foundation Learning Program aims to provide an enriched and personalized learning experience through problem-based, experiential and exploratory learning approaches. Different PISTA modalities are used to support different types of learning to provide an enriched and personalized learning experience through our personal development program and academic support group

The PISTA learning modality enables individuals to explore learning in a unique way by freely accessing our learning resource centre. The learning space is tailor-made for learners to develop a self-learning mode and the learning program is designed for the learners to get maximum results in the shortest time. Each program is organized to support new ways of learning enriched with PISTA. A virtual learning environment is organized to help learners generate and share knowledge in a virtual environment without having to travel out of a local setting.

The Foundation promotes active learning to improve understanding, development and retention life-long learning skills. Its Learning Program is designed on the principle that independent learners learn best and it aims to provide teaching in a real world context in which the problem is relevant. It gives a learner the freedom to adopt the perspective and define the role that is most suitable for them in that particular context.

PISTA learning practices are built upon rigorous research that takes into account the impact of previously less emphasized yet educationally significant factors such as the gender, personality, learning style and stage of intellectual development of the learner.

We teach you how you can be your own teacher in just 15 minutes, you learn to discover the power of your own mind.

No two individuals perceive the world in the same way and the new science has demonstrated that contexts affect reality. The PISTA learning method is a quantum approach to learning built upon the assumption that adult learning is best achieved through dialogue. The premise of this learning approach is that an adult has enough life experience to have a dialogue with the self about any subject and will learn new knowledge, attitudes or skills best in relation to their life experience. Scientists consider dialogue a quantum process and a means of engaging in quantum thinking.

PISTA Emotive Learning

Our PISTA emotive learning program facilitates a sound relationship between the coach and the learner. The PISTA modality provides an environment and context which makes it safe for the self-assessment of the learner. Our unique PISTA emotive learning model removes the unequal power relationship between the coach and the learner. It is designed to facilitate a dialogue with the self that translates to a learning environment without any power domination and which transcends personal likes and dislikes. A PISTA coach is trained to respect a learner ways of developing their own learning program. They know how to listen attentively without interfering in the discovery process of the learner.

PISTA psychomotor modality leverages biological integration with mind and emotion, using natural sound sequences and bodily movement to enhance the learning of knowledge and skills through the active stimulation of independent thinking. The procedure in mental processing guides learners to comprehend concepts from the simple to the complex. The realisations are derived from a self-affirmative experience process and learners can evaluate their own advancements easily within each PISTA session.

PISTA is an accountable model that enables learners to develop the necessary skills for the task at hand. Learners can perform task of knowing what they know easily and learners can honour the results they can manage to achieve.

In self-directed learning, learners take responsibility for their own learning. PISTA learning builds on the principle of engagement by helping learners to hear their own voice and decide the agenda themselves. It motivates individuals to learn because it empowers the individual.

A holistic view of the world invites the learner to consciously address issues on multiple levels. Only fundamental shifts in perception can affect real change, and this can be accomplished through specially designed learner tasks that address the learner at the cognitive, affective and psychomotor levels. Underlying the PISTA learning practice is the philosophy that learning encompasses an individual own ideas, feelings, actions, affective and psychomotor skills. This is an integrated learning approach created from a multi-disciplinary perspective.

The lack of motivation to learning has been one of the obstacles that many educators encounter with their learners. The expectation of the learner to see results in a short time frame has made teaching harder. PISTA program is designed for the learner to see immediate usefulness of what he learns in every session and the immediacy motivates him to continue working. PISTA uses this principle to design the time frame for the learner to achieve the desired results.

On the front end, the change process is defined for the client in as much details as early as possible. PISTA coaches target the learning program on a daily basis with the learner, and the results are evaluated and reviewed. Coaches maintain clear channels of communication with learners to help learners understand what has been achieved. Emotional barriers are identified and determined early on, bringing learners to master their life course on practical issues and viewing it on a rational context.

Our Learning Program uses peer support to enhance the learning process. Our peer group support program train learners to develop empathy in understanding how to facilitate group learning and support. Sound relationships for learning involve respect, open communication, listening and humility. They also create a safe and non-judgmental environment that invites creativity and spontaneity in learning. Constructive competition is structured to facilitate team members working together.
